Public Service – Professional Progress: The DuRant Distinguished Public Service Award

Durant Winner

Immediate Past President Bev Carroll (left) and Mark W. Buyck Jr., the 2013 DuRant Award recipient.

The time is upon us for nominating Bar members who have exemplified a lifetime of public service and demonstrated professional progress for the 2014 DuRant Distinguished Public Service Award.

In 1980, the Foundation established the DuRant Distinguished Public Service Award in memory of Charlton DuRant, a well-known Manning attorney who served as state senator and special associate justice of the SC Supreme Court.

Today, this award is one of the most prestigious statewide honors that members of the Bar can bestow on a fellow attorney. This year’s winner will be honored in January 2015.

For selection criteria, the nomination form and a list of past award recipients, visit our website. Submit your nomination to foundation@scbar.org no later than Thursday, Nov. 6. If you have questions, please call 803-765-0517.
